The organization we support, the Harvard Square Homeless Shelter, is a member program of Phillips Brooks House Association, an umbrella organization of more than seventy public service programs run by Harvard students. The Shelter is the only entirely student-run shelter in the country and the only shelter in the Boston area operated entirely by volunteers.

The Harvard Square Homeless Shelter is open each night from 7:00 P.M. to 8:00 A.M., November 15 to April 15. Services offered include:

• Twenty-four beds each night for men and women;

• Dinner and breakfast for guests, plus dinners for anyone who comes to the door needing food;

• An alcohol-free, drug-free, and smoke-free environment;

• Laundry and shower facilities;

• Use of a computer and printer.

The Shelter, including its shower and laundry facilities, is fully accessible for people with disabilities. It is located in the basement of University Lutheran Church, at the corner of Dunster and Winthrop streets in Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts (directions to the church).

Guests should phone (617) 547-2841 early in the morning to reserve a bed for that night.
